About Brian Jones
I recently move to UK from the United States. Whilst living in the United States, I practiced psychotherapy for MassBay Community College. In addition, I held a position as a professor of Psychology and Philosophy. Whilst in the UK I both own and operate The Mindful Self Psychotherapy Services and work as a personal tutor for Human Development Scotland. I believe education and psychological wellbeing are congruous. Given my dual role as an educator and psychotherapist, I want to bring a sense of knowledge and empowerment to health and wellbeing.
I specialise in stress and anxiety-related disorders. In addition, I have significant experience working with depressions, bereavement, and bipolar disorders. I can work with individuals, groups, couples, and families. Currently, I work with anyone from ages of 13+ years of ages. My services extend to working either in a face-to-face, telephone, and online setting. I will work within a short-term (2 to 8 sessions) or a long-term (12+ sessions). In addition, I will also provide therapeutic consultations which operate as a 1-off conflict resolution session.
In addition to individual and group counselling, I also provide online and telephone counselling services. These services allow clients to whom struggles with time or ability. I use secure and encrypted sites to conduct all online counselling sessions.
As a third service, I offer my behavioural activation therapy. This service offers clients, struggling with weight problems or motivation, to become engaged in running or walking therapies. The client and I discuss psychological and emotional challenges whilst becoming active. We also began to discuss alternative nutrition options and ways of stress management reducing the need to eat.
Finally, we offer psychological and mental health educational workshops. Workshops are designed to address specific challenges to mental health and wellbeing. Workshops can also be specially designed for a designated group.
My training, work experience and any achievement
I have 5 years of counselling and psychotherapy experience. I have worked in a vast array of therapeutic techniques and methodologies. My primary approaches are Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy and Acceptance Commitment Therapy. I strive to provide talk therapy services, behavioural activation therapies, mindfulness education, and daily life consultations structured to enable individuals to seek the value driven life. What do I mean by "value driven"? I acknowledge that everyone is different and seeks various life goals.
